Pre-Postnatal Massage

Prenatal Massage helps calm mother & baby while treating specific muscles that tend to stretch & fatigue during pregnancy.  Benefits include stress reduction, increased sleep and oxygen levels to mother & child, reduces edema, leg cramping, and maintains skin’s elasticity during all trimesters.

Essential Oil Protocol during your massage will be addressed.  If there are scents that you do not appreciate while pregnant, we will not use and will be noted on your Personal Profile.  In general, the following oils will be avoided:

Clary Sage, Basil, Cinnamon, Cedarwood,

Hyssop, Blue Tansy, Fennel, Cassia,

Peppermint, Spearmint, and Wintergreen.

Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils, along with fractionated coconut oil, during pre and postnatal massage sessions are used based on preferences and need.  Lavender relieves nausea, headaches, and constipation.  Neroli and Ylang Ylang help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

During each trimester, you will not only feel pampered but receive physical benefits during pregnancy.

  • 1st Trimester Benefits include headache relief, alleviate morning sickness, emotional support, and reduce fatigue.

Headaches during pregnancy are often to poor posture and tension from carrying extra weight.  Skilled pregnancy massage alleviates muscular strains that cause these issues.

  • 2nd Trimester Benefits include alleviating backaches, postural imbalance, improved breathing, and legs cramping.  

Helps alleviate prenatal depression, improves overall mood, and aids in general relaxation of mother and improves oxygen levels to baby.

  • 3rd Trimester Benefits include reduction in swelling, joint pain, digestive issues, and enhance sleep.  

During pregnancy, all blood components are elevated to provide for fetal needs; by weeks 24 to 34, the plasma volume alone has increased by 40%. resulting discomfort such as swelling, varicose veins and high(er) blood pressure, which are common.  The greatest change women notice is swollen legs and ankles.  Prenatal and lymphatic massage support circulatory function, thus reducing swelling in legs, hands, feet.
